Meme, because I'm too lazy to blog

Like the title says, I really am to lazy to blog properly, e.g. about The Waters of Mars, so I'm just doing a meme stolen from thoran_ziyal .

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 86 films, you have no life.

So weit, so gut.

Words, words, words

Summer holidays and nothing to do, so: meme time!

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

thoran_ziyal gave me: Katzen, Violine, Manga, Harry Potter, Heerlager (in English: cats, violin, manga, Harry Potter, medieval camp)

Sooo, start with the beginning:

Cats: I love cats. Cats are great. They're far better than dogs, for example. And they're fluffier. And smaller. I mean, they're cats. Isn't that enough of an explanation? No dog will wake you up by picking you in the nose with his claw, I can tell you that. Cats!

Violin: I love my violin. The better you get and the longer you play, the more fun it is. And since I have my new violin case, it's also fun to carry it around. Have you noticed how beautiful violins are? Especially old ones, painted brown. Not these new, cheap, red ones. *shudder* And the sound of a violin is great. You can do sooo much with it, from classical music up to pop music, medieval things, irish folk, everything.

Manga: I think i got into manga by watching anime on RTL2 while I was still young and innocent. *grin* Now I've got quite a collection, even though I tend to spend my money for other things now, which is quite sad, because I forget to buy new volumes of my favourite series. I don't know exactly why I like manga, it's just the variety of topics that you can choose from, like books. Only drawn. It's an easy read with nice pictures, that offers you other possibilities to tell a story. At this time, I think I have to say, that I don't like every manga and that giving one to me as a present is a bad idea, unless you asked me which ones I'd like to have before you buy them. The problem is, that people tend to give you any volume of any series, because you read manga. So I got some very strange volumes, e.g. volume 22 of a series I had never heard of before. I know, manga are a great gift, because they're not that expensive, but please ask.

Harry Potter: I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, even though I started only after the 4th volume was released. That was in my primary school time, so I guess that's an excuse. ;) After that, I got all the other volumes on their release dates, the fifth in German, number 6 and 7 in English. No need to mention that I needed 2 days tops to read them. ;) Harry Potter was also the first book I read in English, the Philosopher's Stone, given to me for christmas by my beloved aunt. :-) Caring for the education of her nieces and nephew. *hug* I once was really into the fandom, translating passages for a big translating project (which is really fun!), discussing in a forum, reading fan fiction, but now I don't do that a lot anymore. (Mostly the fault of LotR)

Medieval Camp: When the BC had the idea to do its own medieval camp, I gladly joined. My problem is, that I should buy some things, like plates or a tent or shoes, but I don't have the money. So I'm hoping that there is a spare plate somewhere and that it will be dry in september, because my alibi-boots (with zipper...) are broken now, apart from the fact that they are a little too warm for late summer. Nevertheless, it's quite fun to live in a tent and to cook medieval food, to sit on bales of straw (even though your back will hurt on the second day), have a fire going and such things. And the atmosphere is great.

I hope, that was enough now. I'm quite out of ideas. ;)

Children of Earth

After some trouble involving USB-Sticks and keys ( ;-) @ thoran_ziyal ), I finally watched the third season of Torchwood. Weeeeeeell. The first two episodes were good, after that it became... depressing. Okay, it was creepy all the time. Especially when they blew up Jack and buried him in concrete. But there were also the funny parts, were they kidnapped the brick wall. *grin* But then they started debating about the children. Woah. The creepiest thing is, that while watching it, I thought all the time "Oh god. They would really do it like this." And the more I watched, the more I hated the prime minister and the more I liked John Frobisher, even though he was giving orders to kill Jack. I kind of thought, that he did it all, because he thought it was the best for everyone and not because he was evil or mean. I think, in his heart, he was a really good person.
I really laughed at the whole "congress" when Lois started to reveal that she was working for Torchwood. All their faces were sooo gorgeous! It didn't last for long...
Then they killed Ianto. Unfortunately, my dearest grandfather went outside, were I was sitting watching the episode, and brought my cousin to sit on her chair, while he and my grandmother did the last lunch-preparations. Baaaaaaaaaad timing. (Especially with my grandfather asking, what I was doing and trying to start a discussion, while Ianto was half-dead. ) That sort of killed the mood. Well.
It all got worse until the last episode. I realised how much I liked John Frobisher and how much I hated the prime minister, when Frobisher killed himself and his family. How I cried!
I didn't quite get the solution and how it worked, that they could transmit the signal through Jack's grandson, but even though it was heart-breaking. Poor Jack. Deciding, who gets to live and who has to die. I don't envy him.

After watching the whole season I read through several forum threads discussing it, and all users were agreeing (including me) were agreeing, that it was television on high standards. The director and the whole team were managing to create a piece of television, that was able to move the viewers. Kudos to all of them!
I also agreed, when some users drew parallels between Jack and the Doctor, concerning their emotional state, their attitude to run away. In Doctor Who, you never quite get why the Doctor is always on a run, why he never settles down. Now you can see why, because the same is happening with Jack. The Doctor always leaves a mess behind and he just isn't able to deal with it. He knows, he has to act and he knows of the consequences, but he also knows, that he is hurting people and himself, so he runs from the memories. I think that's very sad.

Even though, I like this season of Torchwood very much and will watch it again soon, if only to get all the inside information, that was revealed to the viewer in mid-season, from the beginning. It's also a chance to see more of Ianto. ;)
Cat on a hot tin Roof

You know that play of Tennesse Williams? That one, that made him famous and stuff? Yeah, me too. Since today, or rather "this evening". But maybe "know" is a little bit exaggerated since I didn't listen to the talk all the time. Well, begin with the beginning:

I went to the play with my English-course, which was about 2/3 of the course instead of the whole, but that didn't really surprise anyone. We met at the station that's directly next to the "English Theatre" at 7 o'clock, which left us enough time to wait for the ones that were late, go to the theatre, take our seats etc. At 7:15 we wondered, when we were going to leave the station, at 7:20 we eventually left. We arrived at the theatre, went to the toilett, got our tickets from our teacher and wanted to enter the audience hall, when... we discovered that we were at the wrong theatre. I repeat: We were at the wrong theatre. It was 7:25, the play would start at 7:30 and we were at the wrong theatre. Great! So our teacher asked the ticket-controller were we had to go since she didn't even know of the existence of another theatre showing English plays. We headed back for the station, got back into the U-Bahn for 1 station and went on searching the theatre, which wasn't that hard because of all the signs. We arrived there at 1 minute past 7:30. To our great relief the play hadn't started yet, so we took our seats and waited.
The first lines were a little shock for me, because it war quite hard for me to understand the accent. Btw, I hate the accent of the Southern States and the American accent in general - but that one's bearable, at least more bearable than the Southern. In the end, I understood it quite well, after a fex lines I got into that strange rhythm (it's like a sing-song...). Nevertheless, the action didn't really convince me and soon we were waiting for someone to die so that something interesting would happen. That wouldn't be such a pity since all the characters are kind of annoying - except the one little girl, but she had a (toy) gun and was able to shoot someone! Er, well. Break. The girl's bathroom is always to small.
We hat heard that the play would take about 3 hours (which was bad enough), so we counted down the time of the second half. Unfortunately it took about 20 minutes longer than announced... We were tired, bored and eager to go home and we also saw that our teacher was apparently asleep. *grin*
At last the play was over - at about 11! - and we went home. I arrived at 11:45. I'm tired! And I don't think I'll ever watch that play again in English. *shudder* Even though I could see, why it was so famous - you can interprete a lot into it! :-p

Good night!

Queer as Folk, Season 4 - almost finished

I just watched episode 13, which is the penultimate episode of season 4 (I've got the feeling those seasons get shorter and shorter...). Whee! So cute!

Horvarth asking Michael for Debbie's hand. And then, when he doesn't succeed in asking her, yelling through the closed doors of the bus. Whee! And Ben asking Michael. Awwwww! And their marriage with Hunter saying "Say 'Yes, I do!'" and Debbie threatening Brian. *grin* I love all those characters!
Also very cool: "Remember what to say, when they ask you how old you are!" "I just tell them, what I used to tell them: 'How old do you want me to be?'" *grins*

Buuut: Melanie and Lindsey. :( Even though I can understand Mel's point of view, I don't think it's fair that she doesn't even listen to what Lindsay has to say. And now they're braking up?! No! I really hope they will pull themselves together and get over it.
And now, on the episode 14. And then I'll have to look, whether the library has got season 5. Somewhere. In the main library, maybe. *hope*

New Mood Theme

One day I will learn how to install a mood theme without having to delete it 3 times, without moving the images 3 times and without changing the wrong parts of the code. Er, well. Nevertheless, I got it now. It's a Doctor Who theme from series 2 with Rose and the Doctor. :-D It was made by sunshinefun27 , for which I'm really grateful. I love it. *hearts* Even though someday in the nearer future I will combine my former theme of Capt. Jack with this one. (That makes Rose, the Doctor and Captain Jack all in one mood theme...!) So, I discovered that, once you get the hang of it, LJ can be real fun. *grin*

Merlin

Since BSG is over now and I have also watched all current episodes of "Leverage" (which is really fun to watch), I decided I could start with Merlin, considering that my mother has told me several times to do so. (what is it with these tv-show addicts, eh? ;) ) Well... after I got used to his looks, Merlin's I mean, it's really good. I would prefer Arthur, but he also gets a lot of sreentime, so I won't complain. *grin* Lancelot is even better, so I loved the episode I watched just this morning, in which I had enough chance to admire both of them at the same time. *fangirl*

What I think is really funny, is when you can read spoilers by simply reading the wikipedia article about the legend of King Arthur. Weeell, I know who's gonna get together in the end. ;) But nevertheless, it still doesn't mean, that the writers won't let anything happen in between. So I'll wait for something to happen. I personnally would love Merlin and Gwen to be a couple - although I don't think Merlin will ever be smart enough to figure out that she likes him and he likes her. *sigh* Sometimes... Er, well. Arthur and Morgana of course. Aaaaand Lancelot and Gwen. It was really uncospicous when they had violin music in the background of their scenes... Because, like my music teacher used to say "Violins indicate a love scene. It always gets very sappy." She was definitely right. ;)

Now, on to the next episode, number 6.

Here in Germany RTL just aired the third episode of series 5. Even though I've missed the first one, the new series is hilarious.

First of all, I love the private detective! He's so cute! And he really can't lie. I quite liked the scene in Cuddy's office where he says he broke into her house and she looks offended/surprised/unbelieving and he goes like 'nah, everybody loves roses'. Love, love, love for this guy.

I do in fact wonder, what 13 does with her hair. It looked horrible today. Well, obviously it's the make up department that did something wrong, but nevertheless. *shudder*

The thing with Taubb and his wife was interesting. Although I think he is being influenced by House, just like Foreman was in series 3. He knows it and he doesn't like it. That is, I think, why he wants to talk to his wife. Although I'm not quite sure whether it is because he just feels guilty or whether he has a 'dark secret'. *shrug*

But, honestly, the patient had a bezoar in his stomach! That's at least one thing I know, for who doesn't know who read Harry Potter? And I'm a huge fangirl of those books, too. I sat in front of my TV and just thiiied for half a minute. *grins*

And last but not least: House was a cheerleader? House? Cheerleader?! House?!?! Sorry, I'm alright again. I hope. ;)

So, the general feeling this episode leaves behind is: I like the detective. :-D And I hope for more!

Very last thing about the trailer for the next ep: Wilson kidnapping House? Sounds great! *grin*

A little late, though

Even though I've watched the latest ep of BSG on saturday, I didn't comment it. Well.

I have to say, that I quite liked the flashbacks. Especially those about Laura Roslin. How good she looks there! How happy and healthy! Those are the times when I come to value the capabilities of actors. I also liked the episode with Baltar and Caprica Six. She looks good, too. (I won't talk about Baltar here...) And the scene with Anders is quite revealing, too. I think that was some kind of glimpse of his ancient personality, his cylon personality. And Starbuck! She was sooo happy! Lee, too, that is. When she opened the door for him... wow! Hello! It's a shame those two never got together (except for the night in "Unfinished Business" - I love this episode).
Another thing I wondered about: How did they do it with the hair?! Laura and Anders both have their hair cut off for some time now and in the episode they definitely had their real hair. Did they shoot those scenes earlier? Were they originally in some other episode but they changed their minds? Questions, nothing but questions. (a fangirl doesn't have other worries)

I loved the scene where Baltar tries to persuade Lee. Lee is definitely right and Baltar shows some heavy self-reflection when he realizes he really never did a thing for another person.

Which leads me to the "chosing scene". Aww, such a great atmosphere! The Admiral has such a presence, such authority. Wow. Great actor, btw. ;) It was sooo cute how Laura walked up to Bill, saying "Did you think you could leave me behind?" (or something like that) and he answers "I never thought that.". Awwwww. Awwwwwww! I love those two! And Doc Cottle. I love him, too. He never gets overexcited, he always stays calm. And he's 100% loyal to the Admiral and to the Galactica. (I also love his dry humor ;) )
And, that has to be noticed, Baltar hesitates when there's the time to chose. He is unsure what to do. Like my dearest aunt said, he thinks about doing a selfless thing. But Paula stops him, he holds his jacket. So I think Baltar didn't quite decide what to do, he just stood there thinking and didn't make up his mind before the choosing was over. I really hope my aunt is right in saying he will rush after the Galactica in a raptor or something, save Hera and then die. That would be selfless. And cool.

I also loved the fact, that Lee is back in his uniform. I... didn't like him being a politician, I think pilot suits him better. (also the uniform... ah, I'll shut up). Well. That leaves us with one final question:

How will it end?

I can't wait for this weeks episodes! I can't! Sometimes I hate BSG for the cliffhangers, but on the other hand I can't help but love it. Arg. And now it's gonna be over. Well. I don't know what I think about that, but nevertheless. I WANT TO SEE THOSE LAST TWO EPISODES!!! Round about now. (But now I have to get to violin lessons)

The Testing of Dragons

Sounds like a nice title for a book. Or a play. Whatever. This is, in fact, a test. It's me testing how I can get the link of my dragcave dragons with a picture and a link to the site without a blue border. Wish me luck!

Ah, well, that was easy. Sometimes it's better to copy+paste the HTML code rather than the UBB code. Even though there's something hidden there. Like in the photobucket HTML codes, where there's a hidden link. That's why I'm normally not using those, but the direct link instead, or in forums the UBB code. But sometimes... you have to remember, that you can always delete the parts that you don't like. ;)

So, returning to the subject, it would be nice to click this tiny little egg, because otherwise it won't hatch. :( Tragic story, I can tell you. ;) And now, back to usual business.

And Guns!

Too late, I should be sleeping (I'm already in bed, with the notebook on my lap...) BUT I have to blog about BSG. *addict* I just watched the last 2 eps and my favourite quote definitely is:

We need strength! And guns! More guns! Better guns! Bigger guns!

Rriiight... You need strength from the inside and... guns? Srsly... But I loved the top the HeadSix wore. So great!
And after all, I can't tell all the sixes apart. Who the frak was the six at the meeting where Anders is in coma or whatever? I don't know! They all look the same! (Obviously)

To bed now. Without guns. (Gnnnn...!)

Really finished, now

Instead of doing something really productive today, I went for a walk with my aunt, my sweet little cousin and my grandfather (and the dog. But he doesn't count. He's just annoying ;) ). I also ate too many cake/cookie things (they were just soooo delicious!) and - best of all - I finished my layout. Some surfing on help communities sometimes really helps. So I've got an image in my header now and I'm happy. I think I'm going to add some things to the menu on the left side, but I'm not sure which things, so I'm gonna leave it for now. Especially because I've got many other things to do. Like watching the last 2 episodes of BSG. I mean the last 2 that were aired. You know.
Buuuut I have to mention that I finally scanned the french vocabulary for my private pupil (does anyone know what "Nachhilfeschüler" is called in English?), which I wanted to do for ages. Well, that's one achievement.
I wanted to cut the fabric for my medieval dress today, but I think I got up too late for that. :(

Nearly finished

I think I nearly finished uploading the "Captain Jack Harkness"-mood-theme. I thought I had finished uploading it half an hour ago, but photobucket didn't think so, obviously. *annoyed* I have no idea why, except maybe, that the somewhat really slow connection from this notebook influences the saving of data on photobucket... ok, I'll shut up. And because photobucket is still loading the Jack icons I can't insert a smiley. Gah. Nevertheless. [...] Ah, it finished. That's the one I wanted to post: Let me introduce to you: Ugly. I'll use this little fella frequently, you'll have to get used to him. Er, where did I stop?

Right, complaining about my computer. In fact, this isn't even my computer, it's the notebook my grandfather lend me because my computer is dead. Or in a coma. I don't know. I can't boot. The ventilators start turning and making some noise, but there's no beeping that normally tells me that the hard-drive is starting. So. Coma, I guess.
Returning to the actual point of the story, this notebook is kinda slow, at least today. Maybe because to many programs are running, but, seriously, Firefox, Word and one Explorer aren't to much for a "not-too-old-Windows-XP"-notebook, or am I mistaken? So, I'm complaining a little. But after all I'm happy I have something where I can surf the internet, blog random things and waste some time. Like always. (Especially when I should study something...)
So I'll stop complaining now, go to bed and read "If you could see me now" by Cecelia Ahern, in German unfortunately, because the library (which is, otherwise, ) did only have "Thanks for the memories" in English. I can tell you afterwards if the translation is any good or if it is a fiasco like the translation of twilight. (And I'll tell you whether the book is any good or whether it is like "P.S. I love you" *shudder*)

Edit: I almost forgot to credit the genius who made the mood theme: cowboyhd Thank you!

Finally, finally here it is!

The glorious, the phenomenal, the... *hem* well, it's *trumpets* Cecilya's new LJ! *applause* Okay, that was enough sitcom. So. I just finished my new (first, btw) layout on this LJ. Wow. How creative and productive one can be, if one isn't distracted by the Green Hell, which is being transferred to a new server right now. So the whole world, er, at least the whole forum is waiting and suffering and (most of all) spamming in other blogs. *grin* And I used the free time to find a layout I can change to my personal gusto and changing it in this way. Unfortunately I couldn't find a layout which allowed me to change the header image. :( So if anyone has got a hint for me (frankly, I didn't want to test all styles), I am listening gratefully. At least I found a great background pattern, even though I searched quite a while. This one was at first a joke, I didn't really want to use it but when I saw how beautiful it worked with the colours of the tables I decided to keep it. *happy*

Well, now some background information about myself. I'm a student from Germany, currently in year 12 at the Gymnasium, trying to get good marks for my abitur. My mother tongue is German, so even though I'm having an advanced English course (which is, just to mention it, very boring because we're having grammar exercises), I'm not always quite sure what is the right way of saying things. So I'll be grateful if you either ignore my mistakes or tell me how the right form is but not roll your eyes at me. :-)
Apart from that, I'm addicted to several tv-shows, such as Doctor Who, Torchwood, Battlestar Galctica, Buffy, House MD and some others which I just forgot. That's a kind of a problem here in Germany, because I like to watch these shows in English (apart from House - I don't think I could stand the medical talk) and our television always translates them, if they are broadcasted at all. Another reason why I love my aunt, she feeds me the newest episodes. ;)
There's also my love for manga/anime and of course my deep and affectionate love for books. But you'll see that yourself.

I wonder if anyone read this far. Anyways, this is not my primary blog, I just had to join LJ to use a community but took the opportunity to practice my English by blogging. So. Don't get confused if you see some things in German in here. :)

Now I wish you an me a good night (it's half past 11 here) and a nice time on the paths in the twilight. (The name has nothing to do with the novel, btw)
